We've scheduled our individual meetings with our adoption counselor, Elizabeth. That's the next step for us. Ben's is next week and mine is on the 11th. They are 1.5 hours. Not exactly sure what they'll be like, but I think it is to sort of review our self study paperwork as well as how we individually feel about adoption.
Meanwhile we ought to be working on our profile. Anybody have pictures of us we should be sure to include? It's hard to know what will catch the eyes of the birthmoms.... then again, the important thing isn't the profile or the pictures and words in the profile. It's trusting God on His timing and choice for our family. Of course, that isn't to say we won't put lots of effort into the profile, just that we need to try not to stress out over it. (-;
About 3 of the couples from our class already have their profiles posted on the Bethany website. They're way ahead of us! It is kind of strange to flip through those thinking about what ours should say. On one hand they all sort of say "Choose us, we'll give your baby a great home, we believe in God, and we're neat people". On the other hand, one way or another, we need to make our profile personal and individual enough so that it touches the birthparents that are looking for people like us.
Strange. An advertisement brochure - complete with pictures- to choose us as parents for your baby. A necessary evil for this day and age I suppose. What a weird world we live in.
